Behind the Bloom
Concept Work | Student Work | Shillington College
The Sustainable Floristry Network (SFN) has a goal to develop solutions to tackle current impacts that floral design has on the environment. Drawing on the UN Development Goals, the SFN are passionate about education and actions with a goal to make floristry a more sustainable practice worldwide.
The Brief.
To create a campaign for the Sustainable Floristry Network that educates and raises awareness amongst consumers.
Scope.
Campaign | Identity | Illustration
The campaign’s central message was to challenge consumers to consider more sustainable and ethical flower choices - with many of our supplies arriving from countries with unfair working conditions.

The decision to combine hard black and white imagery with a softer illustrative style represented the campaign’s goal -
to create a visually appealing movement that holds a dark and sinister message behind it.
Although flowers hold beauty, consumers are pushed and challenged to look behind the bloom to understand the message.
The campaign pushes consumers to celebrate and support locally grown flowers and growers in an effort to increase local production.
